ASF Logistics, Inc. in Savannah, Georgia has been instrumental in organizing a complete logistics service for shipping a wooden roller coaster to the OCT Theme Park in Wuhan, China.
The $9,000,000 wooden roller coaster designed and built by Martin & Vleminckx will be the first dueling wooden coaster in Asia, and follows successful completion of the “Fireball” coaster which remains the most popular ride at the OCT Theme park in Shanghai, China.
The new coaster for Wuhan, which is yet to be named, is comprised of two separate trains that duel with lightning speeds, exhilarating twists, and hairpin turns to be the first to reach the finish line.
This innovative coaster introduces the first ever “High Five” element, in which two trains rotate toward each other at a sharp ninety degree angle, giving riders the illusion of being able to touch hands with the passengers of the opposing car.
The delivery to OCT Wuhan will be the first Racing Wooden Roller Coaster in Asia, and the track length will be twice that of the Fireball delivered to OCT Shanghai. Completion of the new Racing Wooden coaster is planned for late summer, 2011. It will be ready for the park opening in late 2011.
ASF Logistics, Inc. has orchestrated the transportation of 1.2 million board feet (over 2.5 million pounds) of specialized lumber from a treatment facility in Thomson, Georgia to Wuhan, China, a port that can only be reached by river barge.
