What is a flexitank? Simply, a huge, flexible “bag” made of multiple layers of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) material. It is designed to transport non-hazardous bulk liquids, such as food-grade liquids, wine, oil, chemicals, and more, in a standard 20-foot shipping container.
How does it work? The “bag” is first positioned in an empty shipping container. It is filled with the liquid to be transported. The flexitank is designed to expand and conform to the shape of the container, so it maximizes the use of all the available space and prevents the liquid from sloshing around during transit. When it is time to empty the flexitank, there is a valve on the top of the bag that’s used to open and empty it.
Why use a flexitank? The main advantage of flexitank is that it can significantly reduce shipping costs compared to traditional methods such as drums or intermediate bulk containers. Flexitanks are also easy to install and remove. They are lightweight, cost-effective, and easy to handle, reducing loading and unloading times. They are also a sustainable packaging solution – they are easy to recycle, reducing the environmental impact of liquid transportation.
ASF Flexitanks are manufactured using only Virgin Polyethylene Film. This virgin film ensures that your transported product is ‘not’ contaminated the way a product risks the possibility of cross-contamination when ISO Tanks, re-used 55 gallon drums, or 1000 liter totes are used.
